The “Do More” Paradox

It would be funny if it weren’t so sad…

Anytime things get a little tough in business, the marketers and entrepreneurs I know (me, included) all respond in the exact same way.

Our default reaction is to DO MORE.

We launch MORE products.

We invest in MORE channels.

We build MORE funnels.

We spend MORE ad dollars.

And what does “MORE” get us? Paradoxically, it gets us less of what we want, and MORE of what we don’t want.

We’re MORE confused than ever…

MORE frustrated than ever, and…

MORE distracted than ever. 

Left unchecked, the “Do More Paradox” can cause a downward spiral where sales decline, teams get burnt out, and cashflow dries up.

The “Do More” strategy is a killer. It KILLS both companies and careers.

In my experience, there are three things ELITE marketers do that ordinary marketers don’t…

2. ELITE MARKETERS track ACTIONABLE metrics, and they look at them every week. Unique visitors and social shares may make you feel good, but do they truly move the needle?
